Professor Richard Wilding, Cranfield University presents ‘Supply Chain Data and Supply Chain Strategy’ at the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport’s Data Quality seminar on Wednesday 7th July, 2011.
OmPrompt will host the event at The Innovation Centre, Milton Park, Abingdon, Oxfordshire OX14 4RY.
Contemporary supply chains are information intensive. All companies involved in supply networks are critically dependent not only on getting access to information, but the currency, completeness and accuracy of that information. Data quality is therefore a major issue concerning logistics and supply chain management. Good data is essential for the planning, controlling and decision-making involved in the management of supply chains. Conversely, old, incomplete or inaccurate data leads to flawed planning, poor control and misguided decision-making.
Brian Bolam, President and Founder of OmPrompt, “Companies should not underestimate how seriously bad data can hurt a business. Every day we see the repercussive effects of customer services representatives innocently hitting the wrong key on a keyboard or misreading the information in front of them because they are still required to enter orders manually. The mistakes that cost industry millions each year could easily be avoided using the right technology.”
