Driving the Connected Enterprise

Connected Enterprise

"An agile and collaborative organization leveraging technology to connect key stakeholders and constituents with information and expertise intelligently."

True Supply Chain visibility and exchanging information with trading partners in rapidly changing environments have created problems requiring solutions beyond the immediate resources of most enterprises. Only 30% of all the communication between companies and their Customers, 3rd Parties and Suppliers is electronic; the remainder use fax, spreadsheets and voice to exchange data, which the recipient must re-enter - manually.

OmPrompt was founded to create 100% truly-connected trading communities, irrelevant of technical capability, providing more efficient EDI solutions and automating the manual processes or message flows.

As a result of automated electronic messaging, it has been possible for new business processes to be designed and implemented On-Demand.

Supply Chain Communities can be built with Customers, 3rd Parties, Suppliers or any combination. OmPrompt connects these Communities electronically using an award-winning Messaging Platform based on cloud computing technology. Implementation is rapid (i.e. hours or days rather than weeks or months) with a usage based pricing structure enabling fast Return on Investment (RoI) typically less than 6 months.

The Messaging Platform further allows Enterprises to manage existing Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) message flows with higher efficiency at a lower cost, to automate existing manual message flows or processes significantly reducing cost whilst increasing accuracy and efficiency and finally to implement new business processes which are enabled as a result of highly adaptable, low-cost trading partner connectivity.

Higher Efficiency and Lower Cost EDI:

Outsourcing removes the need to maintain internal software licenses, middleware, hardware, development and maintenance expertise when setting up and then maintaining an EDI Infrastructure. It provides greater agility at a lower cost.

Whether connectivity is required for eight, eighty, eight hundred or eight thousand partners, the Semantic Ontology enables OmPrompt to translate existing EDI message flows quickly in a highly automated fashion freeing up IT resources for higher priority initiatives. Message flows can be quickly and economically added so new Supply Chain partners can be on-boarded rapidly and without fuss. Multiple inbound messages all feed one internal Message Map meaning EDI messages can be rerouted to or from a new system with the addition of just one new Message Map.

Where existing EDI messages are being transported via VANs, these same transport mechanisms can be accessed via the OmPrompt VAN Interconnect Service at lower transportation costs due to the purchasing power of OmPrompt.

When messages are not required to be transported via a VAN, they can be routed via the Internet using high security encryption protocols at no additional transportation cost. Such an approach can result in enormous cost savings when compared to the expense of using private networks that are set up and managed by a VAN.

Automation of Manual Processes:

Manual re-keying can cause higher than acceptable error rates as well as increases in costs associated with low value work or subsequent errors. OmPrompt customers routinely experience Returns on Investment in less than six months when embracing the Business-to-Business (B2B) connectivity platform for all manual message flows.

OmPrompt has developed a Visual Data Processing (VDP) frontend to the Messaging Platform. VDP enables the data contained in fax and all document image messages (pdf etc.) to be read and transformed into an appropriate outbound EDI file format. OmPrompt also provides a fully managed Error Correction Service which is employed when a poor quality image leads to an inconsistent data read through the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) used in the VDP process. Business Logic and/or rules can be applied to reflect business processes and improve accuracy still further.

Implementation of New Processes:

Examples of these processes are:

  • The engagement of a Pan-European carrier transport community, with a vast range of technological capabilities, which enables access to the best available capacity for all required transport lanes irrespective of the carrier firm's IT infrastructure, or lack of it.

  • Implementing a Voice Proof of Delivery (VPoD) system using the OmPrompt voice gateway to improve the order-to-cash process.

  • Managing the on time delivery performance of a group of European carriers to ensure full SLA compliance.

Using OmPrompt lowers the total cost of managing all message flows across the entire Supply Chain as well as significantly increasing an organisation's agility when it comes to connecting and messaging with all members of its Supply Chain.

An OmPrompt Connected Enterprise sets the foundation for Supply Chain Visibility, Business Activity Monitoring (BAM), Event Management and Supply Chain Collaboration.
